GUIDE

The International Criminal Court (ICC) investigates and prosecutes individuals charged with the gravest crimes of concern to the international community: genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and the crime of aggression. Based in The Hague and governed by the Rome Statute, it acts as a last measure treaty-based court complementary to national justice systems. The Court participates in a global fight to end impunity and hold those responsible accountable for their crimes, preventing these crimes from happening again. Cases to be covered in this committee include Topic A, the prosecutor vs. Nicolas Maduro, and Topic B, the prosecutor vs. Saddam Hussein. The latter will be treated as a historical trial, due to the passing of the accused. The information and internal workings will take place in November 2006, one month before Saddam Hussein's death.
